Year 6

Class Updates

We wanted to let you know that, moving forward, class updates on the school website will take place on a half‑termly basis. At the end of each half term, you will be able to see a summary of the learning that has taken place, along with an insight into what is coming up next.

We hope this change helps to simplify communication, with the weekly Newsflash acting as your main “one‑stop shop” for key updates and information about school life and your child’s class.

Welcome to Year 6

Welcome back! We have only just returned to school and the children are back to speed and working hard as always – they are working so hard with their additional maths boosters and maintaining a great attitude towards their learning.

Our Learning Next Week:

Maths: We will continue to revisit core parts of the curriculum that are worth potential marks in our end of year assessments. Main focus of next week is on fractions.

English: We will write our persuasive letter on a subject of their choice.

Foundation:

In history, we will look at the Transatlantic slave trade.

In science, we will look at inheritance and genetics.

In PSHE, we will look at mental wellbeing and how we can look after ourselves

Homework

Homework: To continue to practise revising using the CGP materials.

Reading journals: Please add input once per week on how many pages / what is being read.

Notices and Reminders

Aspire: We have our Aspire meetings soon in which we will be completing additional handover meetings for some of our children.

Art: Please can any shoeboxes be kept for our art lessons that require a small box – a cereal box will suffice if needed. The children do not need this for next week’s lesson, but will need one in the future.

PGL Workshop: We want to give as much notice as possible for our workshop on PGL this year. During the final week of this half term, we will be hosting a workshop for parents and for children to attend. It will take place in the hall and last no longer than an hour. We would like to also invite children as it is their trip so the messages are key for them too, we also hope it allows more parents to attend due to not requiring care. More comms will be sent closer confirming the date, but it will be during the last week of this half term.

Please find below the presentation from our Year 6 Parents Information Evening held in October 2025, which provides useful information for parents and carers about Year 6 at Eastwick in 2025-26, and presentations from other parent meetings held this year.
