What a start back to the Summer Term! The children have coped really well this week, despite feeling a little tired after their busy start to the week. Year 4 Residential updates on the Parent Newsflash with photos too!

In English, we have been planning our own stories, based on “The Lost Happy Endings”. In Maths, we have been converting decimals into fractions. In History, we have started our new topic on “The Romans” and in Art, we enjoyed recreating natural patterns and shapes using pastels.

Maths:  We will be starting our new unit on money, recognising the decimal value of different coins and amounts.

English: We will be writing our own narratives based on “The Lost Happy Endings”, changing the main characters, the setting and the object that gets stolen.

Reading: We will be reading and unpicking a letter from a Roman Soldier.

Foundation:  

In History, we will be exploring why the Romans invaded Britain.

In PSHE, we will be learning about grief and loss.

In Computing, we will be learning what “abstraction” is

In Art, we will be using viewfinders to focus on small, specific parts of an image, replicating what we see which sketches and mark making.

In RE we will be exploring what pilgrimage is.

In PE, we will be learning Athletics with Mrs Line and doing swimming with Dip ‘n’ Dive coaches.

Maths

The Maths homework sheet will be stuck into books and given out on Tuesdays – please could children complete this and hand it in by Friday so teachers can mark, provide feedback and hand back by the following week.

Spelling

Please continue to practise the weekly spelling words at home in whichever way your child finds most useful.
