Year 4
Weekly Update - Friday 27th March 2026
Summary of this week:
Well done to our brilliant children for their performances of Matilda this week – we are so proud of you all. I’m sure we are all now feeling tired and ready for the Easter break, so please switch off, have some down time, no homework(!), just enjoy yourselves and enjoy the sunshine!
Our Learning after Half Term
Maths: We will be learning how to convert decimals into fractions.
English: We will be planning our own narratives, based on “The Lost Happy Endings”, changing the main characters, the setting and the item that gets lost!
Reading: Due to the residential at the beginning of the week, we don’t have our normal Reading lessons, so we will just enjoy reading our class book “Dirty Birtie”, whenever we get a spare moment!
Foundation:
In History, we will be starting our new topic on The Romans!
In PSHE, we will be recognising situations that cause jealousy in relationships.
In Computing, we will be learning about decomposition and what this means within technology.
In Art, we will be looking at patterns and shapes within nature and trying to recreate these as a design.
In PE, we will be learning Athletics with Mrs Line and doing swimming with Dip ‘n’ Dive coaches.
Homework
Maths
The Maths homework sheet will be stuck into books and given out on Tuesdays – please could children complete this and hand it in by Friday so teachers can mark, provide feedback and hand back by the following week.
Spelling
Please continue to practise the weekly spelling words at home in whichever way your child finds most useful.

Notices and Reminders
A reminder for our residential – the children will be arriving at school normal time (8.40am) with their day bag and overnight bag.
Any children NOT going on the trip should still meet in normal classrooms to register at 8.40am.
We hope you all have a lovely Easter break!
Miss Bullock, Mrs Secker and Mrs McKenzie.
