Year 3

Weekly Update - Friday 27th March 2026

Summary of this week:

Thank you to everyone that came to support the children in the production of Matilda – the children have worked incredibly hard to learn the songs and actions and it was amazing to see so many turn up to watch the show. This week we have finished off a number of our foundation units and we are looking forward to starting some new learning after the Easter break.

Our Learning after Easter:

Maths:  We will be continuing to learn about time.

English: We will be publishing our bear hunt poems and we will be visiting the Year 1 children to share our work with them.

Reading: We will be reading some non-fiction texts around the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb.

Foundation:

We will be starting new units including the Ancient Egyptians and Historical Art. We will also be learning about sharing is a key part of Sikh practice in RE and how to keep ourselves safe in PSHE.

Notices and Reminders

Pencil Cases
Please could children ensure they have the essentials in their pencil cases such as pencil, glue stick, whiteboard pen etc…

PE Days

After half term, we will continue to have PE on Monday and Tuesday afternoons.

Swimming

Swimming will be starting in the new term, the Year 3 slot will be between 12.00 – 3.00pm on Wednesdays. If you have a school DBS and would be able to help support with taking the children to the pool etc… then please let your class teacher know.

Topic homework

As with our Antarctica projects, the first Summer Term is when we invite the children to create their own Ancient Egyptian projects. We won’t be displaying these until towards the end of the next half term and we will be sending out more information after we have started our Ancient Egypt unit.

Thank you for all of your support and have a lovely Easter break!
