Emotional Literacy Support Assistant

ELSAs are Emotional Literacy Support Assistants. They are specialist teaching assistants with a wealth of experience of working with children. Their aim is to support a child’s emotional development and remove the emotional barriers to learning. ELSAs help children to learn to understand their emotions and respect the feelings of those around them. They can provide time and space for pupils to think about their personal circumstances and identify strategies to support them in managing them.

ELSAs can help with:

  • Emotional Literacy
  • Self Esteem
  • Social Skills
  • Friendship issues
  • Relationships
  • Managing strong feelings
  • Anxiety
  • Loss and bereavement
  • Emotional regulation
  • Growth mindset

If you think that your child may require some support from our ELSA team, please speak to their class teacher who will discuss with you the possibility of a referral.

Our ELSAs are:

Mrs Michele Knight: Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1

Mrs Gemma Ryan: Key Stage 2
