Children at Eastwick Schools benefit hugely from the Primary School PE and Sport Premium. We aim to develop and improve our PE curriculum through the use of the funding, as well as ensuring that the improvements made are sustainable and available to pupils for years to come.
Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity (PESSPA) they offer. This means that they should use the Primary PE and Sport Premium to:
- Develop or add to the PESSPA activities that the school already offer
- Build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years
Developments each year may include - monitor cross curricular links, visiting coaches and sports companies, provide additional after school opportunities, transport to competitions, entry to competitions, etc.
Improvements each year may include - new equipment, playground improvements, and schemes of work.
This is sustained through continued professional development of staff through team teaching, model lessons, attending courses and working in conjunction with the local Sports Partnerships. We also have two PE Leaders (one for infants, one for juniors) who work collaboratively to ensure children are taught outstanding PE lessons on a rolling programme throughout the academic year.
