Weekly Update Friday 17th May 2024

Summary of this week:

The children are enjoying our new text, The Hundred Decker Bus, which has inspired some great art work this week.  We have been trying to use shapes to help us with our drawing.

PE was fun, especially the new games we learnt called Spiderman Splat.

On Wednesday afternoon, Mrs L built a fire in Forest School and each class enjoyed roasting marshmallows in the sunshine.  We played games together and topped up our bird feeders by making cheerio strings for them.

Our learning next week:

Maths In Maths we will be continuing our learning about the composition of numbers, focusing on numbers between 5 and 10, and using 10 frames and part, part, whole models to represent them.
Literacy

We will continue to write sentences to tell the story of The Hundred Decker Bus.

Phonics We will learn to read words with adjacent consonants and learn the tricky words there, when, what, and one.
Vocabulary join, attach, model, cuboid, cube, cone, cylinder

Homework:

Maths:  Sing number songs like 5 Little Monkeys and practice using the fingers on one hand to show how many are on the bed and how many have fallen off, by folding down the fingers.

Literacy: Draw a picture and write a sentence about it.

Vocabulary: Try to incorporate some of the week’s vocabulary into your conversations with the children.

Notices & Reminders:

The children will be swimming next Friday, 24th May to make up for the session they missed at the beginning of the term.
