The Friends of Eastwick Schools’ refers to the co-operation between the parent-led fund-raising organisations of Eastwick Infant School and Eastwick Junior School. Both are registered charities (Charity Numbers 1093294 and 288960) and both exist to raise money for the schools to enable them to fund resources over and above those covered by their budgets.
On average, the charities jointly raise around £30,000 every year for the benefit of the children currently attending the schools and do this through a combination of annual and one-off events, as well as regular activities such as cake-sales, a DVD library and second-hand uniform sales.
Both Friends organisations have a committee, which any parent or carer with children at the school is very welcome to join. We love to welcome new members, at any time of the year, and are hugely grateful for any level of commitment that can be offered. Some of our committee members work full or part-time and some can offer more help during the day than others but everyone has ideas and skills that are immensely valuable to our efforts to provide as much extra funding for the schools as we can.
We also enjoy a high level of support and engagement from many many of the families and staff at both schools, without whom we could not run our events. Occasions such as our annual joint Fireworks evening, Quiz evenings, Christmas Fairs, children’s discos and movie nights, the joint Summer Fair, joint Summer Ball and others simply would not happen without the generosity, help and support of countless numbers of parents, carers and staff who, amongst other things, sign up to man stalls, paint faces, set-up (and clear-up), cook BBQs, make popcorn and candyfloss, serve drinks and attend the events.
The money raised by The Friends has been put to many different uses over the years and recently has included the funding of some fantastic outdoor wooden play structures at the Infant School (including a treehouse) and outdoor play equipment at the Juniors, additional sporting equipment and literacy resources for the Junior School, extra art and craft materials for every classroom and IT resources such as notebooks for classrooms in both schools.
We are always looking for new ideas and we always need as much help as parents, carers and staff can offer, so if you’re interested in finding out more please contact us at infantfriends@
